I Was Born There

Documentary Short

Commissioned by Parks Canada, I Was Born There is a film installation in the Illusuak Cultural Centre in Nain, Labrador – a new gathering space and ‘living room’ to the Northern Labrador community, created to celebrate the culture and history of the Labrador Inuit.

I Was Born There powerfully illustrates the experience of visiting Torngat Mountains National Park and explores the cultural significance of this special place. Completely unscripted but beautifully expressive, the film features the stories and experiences of real visitors to the park and is grounded in the voices of Inuit who have lived in, and traveled on, the lands of the park for generations.

The film is viewable in four languages: English, French, Inuktitut and Syllabics.
